OUR ARRIVAL

The moment we got on the plane, I must admit, it was a bit nerve racking. Saying goodbye to family + friends was hard too, but after 26 hours of flying + 6 hours of bus riding we are in Kaitaia! Kaitaia is only about an hour away from our starting point Cape Reigna.

Now after being in the country for 2 days the nerves have subsided a bit. The bus ride from Auckland to Kaitaia was on beautiful winding roads with walls of lush green, or acres of farmland on either side. The New Zealand countryside is breathtaking. To hike through it will be amazing.

As we walked down the Main Street of Kaitaia we noticed old beach town shops, new products, or Chinese + Fish 'n Chip restaurants. There were also lots of nice little motels in the area. 

After grocery shopping at the "PAK'nSAVE," some lunch, leftovers for dinner + a good nights rest, we're finally ready to start hiking today! We can't wait to show you more!
